Who we are
Rent Our Truck provides software that self storage facilities use to rent out their moving trucks. When you rent a truck from a facility that uses Rent Our Truck, that facility decides what information is collected and how it is used. We store and process it for the facility, under their instructions.
What is collected during a rental
- Your name, address, phone number and email.
- Your driver's license details (number, issuing state, expiration and date of birth) and photos of the front and back of your license.
- Your auto insurance company, policy number and a photo of your insurance card.
- The details of any additional driver you add, with their consent.
- Your signature and initials on the rental agreement.
- Photos of the truck at pickup and return, mileage, fuel level and equipment.
- The truck's GPS location during the rental, if the facility uses GPS trackers.
- Card details are entered directly into Stripe, the facility's payment processor. Rent Our Truck never receives your full card number or security code; we keep only the card brand, last four digits and expiry.
How it is used
To check that you can legally rent the truck, to prepare and send your rental agreement, to take your deposit hold and final charges, to charge tolls, tickets or damage that the agreement allows, to alert the facility if the truck enters a road where trucks are prohibited, and to keep a record of the rental. We do not sell your information or use it for advertising.
How it is protected
License and insurance images, license numbers and dates of birth are encrypted at rest with a key specific to each facility. Images are shown only to signed-in staff of the facility you rented from, and each viewing is logged. Owner and manager accounts use two-step sign-in.
How long it is kept
License and insurance images are deleted automatically after the facility's retention period (one year after the rental ends unless the facility sets a different period). The signed rental agreement is kept as the facility's record of the contract.

To see, correct or delete your information, contact the facility you rented from. They can reach us to act on your request.
